Twenty months down the line and I am still suffering from pregnancy brain. You see a little while ago, probably when Doo was working a night shift, I had been surfing the net and stopped by one of my favourite sites Amazon. I was adding books to my seller account in a bid to make some money since we didn't win the lottery, when the buyers recommendations appeared before my eyes.
One of my new favourite authors Katy Regan had a new book coming out at the end of November so I thought I would pre-order it since I already had a signed copy of her debut novel One Thing Led To Another by Harper Collins.
I had a fantastic time and had a new-old outfit for the event which I was thrilled to wear as I had practically lived in jogging bottoms for nine months of pregnancy.
I learnt alot about the publishing process and even had chance to share my novel ideas with agents from David Higham which proved quite valuable. Fingers crossed they still remember me when I send them my first draft!
My friend came with me and though she is partial to writing more poetry than novella she enjoyed the champagne and canopies nonetheless.
On the train home I was wishing the night wouldn't end as I had had a glimpse of the life that I wanted for myself and my family. Though I was still nursing my son at the time so I was about ready to burst by the time I walked in the front door and relieved Nanna of her duties.
Well back to my shock and pleasure the kind postman delivered a package today, and after cursing Doo for buying more Christmas presents (yes he has completely finished his Christmas gift list already! Makes you sick doesn't it?) I looked more closely at the name and realised that it was in fact addressed to me.
Yay.
I never seem to get any gifts through the post nowadays unless I buy something for myself, which was when I realised that it must be my book.
The One Before The One by Katy Regan.
I vaguely remember receiving an email from Amazon saying they had brought the publication date forward but I must have just pushed it to one side and focused on blogging instead ;-)
I don't know when I will get started on it but I think I may take it in the bath later whilst Doo is at work and Nanna Barba has Youngling for the night.
It really is the small pleasures that make me smile the most.
Have you had any interesting post lately?
Take care
Kate

Wow! That sounds like a party I'd love to attend. I'll be looking for your book by the holiday (I'm confident of that). BTW...intrigued by the pregnant pants. I'd love to wear a pair of those after stuffing myself at Thanksgiving dinner.
12 November 2010 13:10The most interesting post (mail) I've received is from the IRS. That's the Internal Revenue Service of the United States. I haven't opened it yet because it cannot be good news. I like the email I received the other day though! It was from a gentleman in Nigeria who wants to give me $7,000,000. He needs me to deposit it in my bank acoount and he just needs my account # and some other information. How lucky can one get?
12 November 2010 15:24those sound like great books and what a fun party!!
12 November 2010 20:37Bill I'm not envious of your mail however I would rather someone handed me £7m cash instead of an email ;-) If you get it feel free to share.
Copyboy get yourself a pair of pregnancy pants - so comfortable. Not the most sexy item in my wardrobe I admit. So what's the best party you've been to? Or ever hosted? And are you on Twitter?

Kate: I love accents and would really like it if you did an audio blog here some time. Maybe you could read a little bit of the novel you are writing or an excerpt of one of your fovorite books. Bill
