30 Day Shred

Having a baby has definitely had a huge impact on my life mentally, emotionally and physically. My body has changed in ways that I couldn't have imagined. I wont go into too much detail as you maybe eating or worse pregnant and a little nervous about the aftermath  ;-)

I had Youngling a little over three years ago and I have yet to get back into my pre-pregnancy clothes. I have about a stone and a half (21lbs - 9.5 kg) to lose. It hasn't bothered me as much as I thought it would but with the summer holidays looming, and no chance of that second dream child any time soon, I have decided to get in shape. Well I want to look good for BritMums Live and in a wetsuit in Cornwall don't I!

Talking to some friends on Twitter I decided to get Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred so I can follow a structured programme at home when I don't have the time or money to go to any classes at a gym or leisure centre. I can also continue to make my muscles look lean and toned (after shredding the excess weight) by adding some Pilates exercises to the workouts. Being an ex dancer Pilates keeps me mentally and physically in shape and I find it quite relaxing as workouts go. The biggest changes I want to see are in my legs and waist. Ever since I can remember I have had concerns over the size and shape of my legs. I think my reoccurring knee problems haven't helped. I have also started to get a little anxious over my bingo-wings which appeared out of nowhere.  That's motherhood for you.

So this is a snippet of the 30 Day Shred - which I will be starting tomorrow as I do not feel at all well today. Honestly, it's not an excuse I promise. I will also post before and after pictures ;-) maybe!

Enjoy:

What's the best home video workout you have ever done? How did you get back to (or better than) your pre-pregnancy weight?

Take care, wish me luck
Kate

Aha! you have just motivated me. I started running a few weeks ago - I too have a stone and a half to lose (and 30 days until I go on holiday under the guise of a beach babe). How about we keep each other in check?? I've just eaten a full lunch, and still find myself raking through the coppers in my purse to get a vending machine fix next time I nip out of the office...

Good luck. Some people hate her (Jillian), some love her, I obviously love her. I also gained bingo wings with motherhood but they are much much less since I started this, I won't be to hot wearing sleeves all this summer like I was last summer. I am still shredding 5 nights a week. 30 mins a day I can just about fit in so it suits me ;-) Anyway best of luck with it all, though sure you won't need it xx

Excellent you guys, if we help and support each other along the way then we will be happy and toned and healthier bloggers by far :-) I really do wish I felt a little better today then I could get started. Instead I am having a look at meal plans and really sticking to a bedtime routine with youngling so I can exercise in the evenings too. Oh no just realised I am away this weekend :-o can walking count as exercise? and I will swim everyday too in my big red Special K costume :-) see we are already on track xx

I hired a personal trainer and lost 3.5 stone and I'm now fitter and slimmer than I was pre-babies. I was a size 16 after my second, but I'm now a trim size 10 (sometimes a size 8 depending on the style). I go to Pilates once a week and it's made a massive difference to my stomach. The only workout DVD my personal trainer recommends is Davina.

Has it arrived yet Natalie? I am still under the weather (even after my little holiday) so I haven't started yet :-/

Wow 3.5 stone loss is amazing. Was it expensive to hire a trainer? When I was pregnant I gained like 5 stone It wasnt pleasent afterwards thats for sure. Ooh I have the Davina DVD's too. Maybe I should to those after the 30 days and see the difference :-) xx

Jillian is great! I did 30 day shred last year and it worked wonders. I tried a tabata workout last week and it did NOT go well! I couldn't make it through the whole thing.

Ah bless you Sarah, I'm not saying I'm horrific looking I just don't feel as comfortable as I used to and I want to feel fit again. Must be the Dancer in me ;-)

I've started doing this too! Tough isn't it! Am on day 9 of level 1 and determined to do the whole thing. I'm not supposed to measure myself until day 10 but I had a sneaky peek and I've lost inches already :)

I haven't even had a chance to start it yet Cally :-( I cannot shift this cold/flu thingy and its driving me bonkers. I cant wait to get stuck in though I doubt I'd have the energy to complete day 1 at the moment let alone day 9. eek xx
