In fact everything is blumming marvellous at the moment. I was only saying on Twitter the other day how happy I was and that November was just THE month for our little makeshift family :-) The only thing I have to worry about at the moment (bar the usual motherly qualms) is Christmas.
Now I am not usually one to get worked up that much by Christmas as I really do find it a time to embrace family life and spend time with friends. Especially over the past five years or so. I am really looking forward to our Church services and hosting Christmas at my house once again. It's so touching seeing to see so many people together and enjoying themselves I just love it.
Most of all I love the anticipation and excitement Youngling has built up over the weeks leading up to Christmas. His little face lights up when he opens his presents and then he crashes half way through the excitement.
This year I have no idea what to get him as we are already expected a belated present in that being Ollie-Pops the puppy. I think some family members will be getting him some games, hopefully some will get him some clothes as he is growing soooo quickly. Really it isn't too far away.
We have been reading some lovely Christmas stories to jeer our moods from this miserable weather we have been having and get ready for some festive fun.
Here are three stories which are full of pictures and easy to read text. Suitable for children aged 3+ these books would make excellent stocking fillers or as tree presents. Youngling has read them with me and then pretended to be a teacher and read them to his imaginary class.
Sweet Rosie and her friends live and play in a magical world of fun and laughter.
When Big Bear wakes up from his deep winter sleep, he’s sad to find that he’s missed out on all the fun that snow can bring.
Rosie and her friends do everything they can to do recreate winter fun, but sledging and snow angels don’t work without snow. Will they find a way to cheer up Big Bear?
When Little Miss Tiny secretly wishes she could visit Father Christmas she doesn’t expect her wish to come true. But magical things really do happen at Christmas and crazy things too when you’re with the Mr. Men and the Little Miss!
Complete with celebrating sheep, yellow snow, sneezing elves and a very sooty Father Christmas, this story will having you laughing all through Christmas!
The Island of Sodor is covered in a thick blanket of snow and the engines have been told to be careful and no to go over any big hills. Gordon doesn’t listen, he's sure that he'll be strong enough to steam over every hill he comes to.
But it isn’t long before Gordon finds out that snow is much more dangerous than it looks!
Even if you aren't familiar with the characters from their television series you will enjoy reading these darling books to your child. I am really glad that Youngling loves being read to and trying to read himself. I really should do it more often with him as it's wonderful watching him pint out and say the phonics letters. Though it can get tiring when its every single letter of every single word.
What was the last book you read to your Youngling?
Take care
Love
