'You are a remarkable woman and you deserve all the happiness, contentment and love in the world. I, for one, know that I have never met anyone quite like you.'

When Rose Pritchard turns up on the doorstep of a Cumbrian B&B it is her last resort. She and her seven-year-old daughter Maddie have left everything behind. And they have come to the village of Millthwaite in search of the person who once offered Rose hope.

Almost immediately Rose wonders if she's made a terrible mistake - if she's chasing a dream - but she knows in her heart that she cannot go back. She's been given a second chance - at life, and love - but will she have the courage to take it?

Not only does Rowan juggle her home life with an ever expanding family (congrats on the birth of your twins by the way) she has also juggled writing a compelling read jam packed full of emotion, characters and intricate detail.

In this her latest novel Rowan tackled the somewhat taboo tops of domestic and mental abuse. She writes with grace, humour and an innocent honesty that has the reader believing in each and every character. This just goes to show how versatile and talented a writer she really is.

One of my favourite parts was the undramatised reunion between the heroine, Rose, and her father. It was magically written for there wasn't a clichéd embrace of false niceties  or tears of joy. It was as awkward on paper as it is in real life. There was no pretentious decelerations which one might see on the like of talk show TV.

Dearest Rose is a captivating story which will have you crying and laughing out loud all the same time. It was initially hard going and sometimes harrowing when telling of Rose's chilling past. It is an ambitious novel full of complex and romantic characters which Rowan has captured in all their spirit.

Rowan is a true credit to the literary world and I would highly recommend this book for a pressie for anyone who loves to read. But don't just take my word for it. Go and get it now ;-)

If you haven't heard of Rowan Coleman (where have you been?) or read any of her books (again where have you been?) then never fear you can find her on Twitter, Facebook and on her Blog. Congratulations Rowan on Rowan your twin boys are growing up beautifully and I can't wait to read the next book.
